Son of Real Florida: Jeff Klinkenberg Book Talk and Signing

Award winning author and journalist Jeff Klinkenberg will discuss his latest book, Son of Real Florida: Stories from My Life at the Safety Harbor Public Library, June 7 at 6:30 pm. In Son of Real Florida, Klinkenberg shares experiences growing up in pre-air conditioned Florida with stout-hearted folks who learned to live and prosper among the insects, sharp-toothed creatures, and serious heat. Klinkenberg portrays the unique people, places, food, and culture of Florida with a deep his deep knowledge of and love for the state. Some of the chapters are about the author’s childhood in Miami. Klinkenberg was the former ‘Real Florida’ columnist for the Tampa Bay Times and has authored several books including Alligators in B-Flat. He was named one of three 2018 winners of the Florida Folk Heritage Awards and received the Florida Humanities Council’s 2018 Florida Lifetime Achievement Award for Writing.
